It’s hard to believe, but the back-to-school rush is already here.

The last few weeks have been about new routines in our household, as the kids returned to school for the 2025-26 academic year. While they prepared for a new season of sports, music, and friendships, the Treasury team and I prepared to launch into another MPACT enrollment season.

For many families, saving for college or career training has always been an important goal, albeit not always the easiest one. Whether it’s inflation that’s forcing you to tighten your belt, a lack of financial tools that fit your budget, or just the feeling that traditional systems are outdated, too many Mississippians have felt shut out of saving for the future.

This week my office has mailed more than $1.3 million to almost 5,000 Mississippians who had unclaimed money that was about to become unclaimable. If you receive one of these checks, cash it.

As 2025 begins to wind down, I’ve taken a moment to look back on all we’ve accomplished together at the Mississippi Treasury this past year.

This month, I had the honor of testifying before the Mississippi Senate Universities and Colleges Committee about the strength of Mississippi’s College and Career Savings program.
