Following a tradition started in 2018, marking 100 years since the end of the
Great War, the pipers played in remembrance of lost pipers, as well as the many
others, who sacrificed their lives in the war.
The consultation closes on Tuesday March 22, 2022, and the responses received
will help shape and deliver the final strategy and action plan, which will be
published later in the year.
The Arran Open Studios (AOS) initiative, started by local artist Josephine
Broekhuizen and drama teacher Sarah Cook, is celebrating its 10th anniversary
this year with a number of artistic events planned in the run up to the Open
Studio event in August.
The installation of a new 33KV subsea cable between Carradale and Arran is
attracting a fair amount of interest from marine and ship watchers who are
spectating a flotilla of cable boring, laying and associated vessels currently
working off the shore on the west coast of Arran at Balliekine.
Local u3a group members welcomed senior Ranger Kate Sampson to their October
social meeting in Brodick Hall to talk about some of the key nature conservation
projects happening on Arran.
