The 2-mile trek from York City Police headquarters to York College on Oct. 22, 2025, brought law enforcement and athletes together for Special Olympics.
The officer was immediately placed on an unpaid administrative leave after the city found out about the arrest, Police Commissioner Michael Muldrow said.
City council is expected to take a final vote on allowing a nonprofit to place more than 100 cameras on city property at Tuesday's legislative meeting.
"We're looking for a corporate citizen to step in and, for lack of a better term, be our Santa Claus," said Dave Brady, who organizes efforts in York County.
If passed, the ordinance would bar new vape and smoke shops from opening within 500 feet of schools, religious structures, public recreation facilities, day care centers or libraries, among other restrictions.
