RBC has extended its sponsorship of the Canadian Open and all of golf in this country can be thankful. The financial institution announced a multi-year extension of its backing of Canada’s national men’s golf championship on Monday, along with the same for the RBC Heritage.

​The U.S. Open, the season’s third major, is upon us and it will be held for the 10th time at the challenging Oakmont Country Club. This course has been getting plenty of attention for the brutal setup that includes rough over four inches and greens running 14 on the Stimp. Look for an over-par score to win this this week.

The bombers will love the course this week at Vidanta Vallarta which is generally wide open. There is plenty of water on the course for those who go off line, but in general there will be plenty of birdies and eagles. The main trouble will be the wind which comes in off the Pacific and may mean some directional challenges.

The AT&T Pebble Beach is no longer a pro-am, thanks to its designation as one of the PGA Tour’s Signature Events. That, and the fact that the field is capped at 80, should help speed things up – it can’t get any slower than last week’s grind. Players will utilize two courses this week: Spyglass Hill, which has a different look this year after a storm took out a large swath of trees; and, of course, Pebble Beach, which added trees to some holes over the winter.

Although he isn’t long on experience on the Korn Ferry Tour, Sudarshan Yellamaraju played like a seasoned veteran over the final 18 holes of the Bahamas Greater Abaco Classic at the Abaco Club.
