A new Community Orchard will welcome Salt Lakers traveling along the 9-Line trail this spring, with several fruit trees planted by Parkview Elementary students on Tuesday in celebration of the project’s first phase being completed.

Utahns could see non-UTA buses shuttling riders up the canyons next winter, a Utah Transit Authority spokesman said Wednesday, but only as an addition to the standard Ski Bus routes driven by UTA employees.

With the possible exception of 1869, when the transcontinental railroad came together at Promontory Summit, the coolest thing to ever happen in Utah was the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. And in 2034, unless something goes catastrophically wrong, Utah will get to do it again.

A handful of Salt Lakers joined the mayor and members of the City Council on Thursday to kick off Pride Month, taking turns at a flagpole crank to raise a large rainbow banner outside the City and County Building.
