Winners of the general and youth book awards receive $1,000 and the Paradigm Prize winner receives $500.

The awards were handed out at a gala reception in Calgary on Sept. 18.

The Victoria Book Prize Society has announced the shortlist for the inaugural DC Reid Poetry Book Prize. The $5,000 prize is awarded to a writer from the Capital Regional District for the best book of poetry published in the previous year. The shortlisted titles are: •

The Doug Wright Awards for the best in Canadian comics were handed out in Toronto, in conjunction with the Toronto Comic Arts Festival, on June 7.
