YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- An explosion at a steel plant early Thursday morning was heard in several parts of Youngstown and Girard. According to the Girard Police Department, it happened around 3 a.m. at Vallourec Star plant, when molten slag made contact with water which caused the explosion. Police say the safety personnel at Vallourec told them everything was contained and that there were no injuries.
