On short rest, Bankston Walters threw a complete game to lead Presbyterian Christian to its first-ever MAIS 6A state title with a 9–4 win over Hartfield Academy. “It’s been a long time coming."

Southern Miss’ Nick Monistere was the first Golden Eagle to be selected on the second day of the MLB Draft.  The junior second baseman was selected at No. 126 overall in the fourth round by the Houston Astros.
