Wind and waves are finally calming down, and Monterey Bay anglers are reaping the rewards.

Our most recent south swell has died down to the great relief of many anglers, especially the surfcasters.

We have yet another powerful south swell rolling up along the entire California Coast right now, but there has been little effect on ocean fishing locally. Halibut have moved out to the 60-80 foot depths, and surfcasting is a bit more…

What’s on the list? Well, just about everything. Tons of bait are getting closer to the beach, to the delight of shore bound whale watchers.

There’s no excuse to not go fishing on Monterey Bay right now.

The bay is alive with bait, especially just a few miles offshore. Salmon anglers are finding their fish, even some limits, near the deep submarine canyons that point shoreward towards Moss Landing.

Weather conditions are forecast to be very mild with comfortable seas and low wind for the next few days. Best of all, there are plenty of fish out there and they are on the bite.
