ANZ announces half-year profit of $3.5 billion

Australia's third biggest bank by market capitalisation, ANZ, has posted another record half-year profit. The bank's preferred measure - the cash profit - rose 11 per cent to $3.5 billion in the six months to the end of March. That compares to a result $3.18 billion in the same period a year earlier. The statutory net profit jumped 15 per cent to $3.4 billion from $2.9 billion a year ago.
