10 Christmas Ads That Stole Our Hearts in 2016

10 Christmas Ads That Stole Our Hearts in 2016

Last year we prepared a list of the best Christmas ads of 2015 and this year is no different. We scrolled through thousands of tweets and watched hundreds of commercials to pick 10 Christmas ads that stole our hearts in 2016. So sit back, relax, and see what brands prepared for us this year.

PROWLY’S CHRISTMAS CHART (SUBJECTIVE PICKS)

#10 – Sainsbury’s – The Greatest Gift

Sainsbury’s is known for creating Christmas adverts that go viral. Although I’m not a huge fan of those kinds of songs, I must admit that this one is not only catchy but also has a great story behind it. The result? Over 15M views on YouTube. Not bad at all.

#9 – Amazon Prime – A Priest and Imam meet for a cup of tea

In the times of social disagreements, Amazon decided to show that no matter how culture or religion separate us, we can still be respectful to each other. Selfless good deeds exist, and it’s worth to show our kindness to others not only during Christmas but all year long.

#8 – Xfinity – Hooking Up Grandma’s Face

Grandparents read their grandchild’s tweets and are terrified to discover that the lack of Internet means #notsomerrychristmas to them. How to get around it? Seems that Christmas is where Netflix works.

#7 – Pornhub – Lonely Night

Pornhub shows that Christmas isn’t so merry for the lonely hearts. Fortunately, there’s something that can cheer those single souls up. A Pornhub Premium account can put a smile on everyone’s face (at least the male part).

#6 – John Lewis – #BusterTheBoxer

Last year #TheManOnTheMoon stole our hearts with a touching story. This year, #BusterTheBox makes us smile. It’s great to see that someone can create viral ads consistently, year after year.

#5 Marks&Spencer – Christmas with love from Mrs. Claus

Marks&Spencer used the saying that behind each man’s success stands a woman and introduced a new Christmas hero – Mrs. Clause. Secretly helping her husband to make all the kids happy, she goes on a journey. Not only the video got over 7M views – #MrsClaus tag has become popular on Twitter as well.

#4 – Huawei – #BePresent

This campaign was quite a brave move from Huawei that paid off. The electronics producer said to put aside all the devices for that one special day and be present for their loved ones. Brilliantly simple, yet we tend to forget about it.

#3 – H&M – Come Together

For a huge fan of Wes Anderson that I am, this video had to make it to the top 3 of the list. It takes a viewer on a Christmas ride with Adrien Brody. The humorous scene shows that in the worst situation, there’s still light.

#2 – Allegro – English for Beginners

This commercial makes us proud. Created by a Polish online auction site (and Prowly’s client!), the story of a Grandpa who is determined to learn English to communicate with his grandson touched 12M viewers around the globe.

#1 – Air New Zealand – Summer Wonderland

My personal favorite. For most of us, Christmas is associated with winter, forgetting that on the other side of the globe, it’s the middle of summer right now. Watching this ad, I bet everyone wants to ‘pop the plug out of their jandals’ and go to New Zealand.

Content Marketing: 2017 vs. 2018. Lessons Learned and the Challenges Ahead

Good content is described as one that stands out from all the crowd or is useful to the reader (it’s about this subtle difference between “help” and “hype” which is so meticulously dissected and analyzed in the book “Youtility” by Jay Baer).
